Hey guys! Spring Break is just around the corner for us college students, and man I'm excited. I usually don't do much for spring break, sometimes a short beach trip is in order, but this year it looks like we will be snowed in on the east coast thanks to winter storm Thor- speaking of Thor, was that movie any good? I have yet to watch it.
Well, hopefully you guys have some wonderful warm plans ahead and I thought I'd share My Style Guide to Spring Break!
1. Bathing Suits: Like any good vacation, it involves a swim suit (and water, and a cocktail). One of the most growing swimsuit trends for this season is this bikini from TRIANGL swimwear. It's neoprene- a more durable, sturdier fabric- and features bright colors bordered by a thick, black outline. There are plenty of duplicates if you aren't willing to A) buy online, or B) pay around 90 bucks for it. Some examples are here and here. If bikini's aren't your thing, this retro Topshop one piece is perfect for you. There are plenty of high waisted bikini bottoms as well like this one. Rockin' in this one piece would make Tay Swift proud!
2. Clothes: I've already rambled on about trends this season, but if you didn't catch that post read it here. This gorgeous shirt dress from French Connection (similar here) is perfect for spring. It's chic, but comfortable. The gladiator sandals make the outfit fun, and trendy. These from Stuart Weitzman are amazing! However, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives here and here. The Chloe saddle bag adds a bright pop of color (similar here) that makes this outfit ideal for spring without screaming florals.
3. Sunglasses: Gotta protect your eyes from those rays and why not look stylish while doing it? There are so many different shapes of sunglasses now a days that can add that final "umph" to an outfit! These Wildfox sunglasses, sported by celebs like Kesha and Ariana Grande, are funky and young. They give the wearer a groovy, hippie vibe! However, the shape can be hard to pull off, so Aviators are next. These are classics. Ray-Ban makes the best aviators. They come in 2 different lens sizes and a variety of colors! Lastly, these Miu Miu sunglasses are for my trendy gals. The modified cat eye invokes sass and sophistication! Here are dupes for all three: Wildfox, Ray-Ban, Miu Miu. No matter what, don't forget to get polarized! They help filter out the glare!
4. Hair: Whether it's short, long, or that perfect lob, hair can get bothersome during warmer months. These styles can help with that annoyance! A bun, featured here with a cute floral wrap (a simple DIY here) keeps your hair out of your face if you are out shopping, or on the beach! Beachy wavves, featuring Amber Fillerup Clark, is the most wanted hair look of this decade. Amber does multiple youtube videos, and has an amazing blog that will teach those girls with longer hair how to do some amazing updos! Lastly, a pony. Pefect for when you are on the go, on the beach, or out for the night. This gold hair wrap spices up your pony when you want to make an impression!
5. Makeup: Makeup is probably one of the hardest things for me during the warmer months. I don't want to feel like I have a mask on, and don't want it to run down my face! A great BB cream, like this one from the fabulous Bobbi Brown, is light but has a nice sheer coverage! Also, for pale girls like me, they have a shade that actually MATCHES. I could cry in happiness! Plus it has SUNSCREEN. AKA the most important part of your skincare routine. Even if you like to get that tan, put on sunscreen and tan through it so you don't ruin your skin. Bronzer is a big cult favorite. This one from Too Faced and not only is amazing but smells like chocolate! It's the perfect brown, not too orange not too muddy. Even though we don't tend to get chapped lips in the summer, it is still important to keep them protected and moisturized. This Chubby Stick from Clique is super hydrating. Plus, it comes in multiple fun colors.
Now, what are you waiting for! Get packing and planning that perfect spring break! Or, if you are like me and are snowed in, start day dreaming about it!
Until Next Time,
Emily
