NYFW

"And I do my little turn on the catwalk..."

70s. Business Suits. Suede: the "themes" of NYFW.

1. The Row: MKO and AO's Ready-to-Wear Fall '15 line is everything and more, in my opinion. The simplistic lines are standard in The Row, however this collection is very work appropriate. The trench coats and fitted turtlenecks are perfect for a business look. This collection even displays some oriental vibes with the belted tops and slippers that were paired with every look. (Which by the way, I want a pair.) The Olsen's have not disappointed with their A/W 15 runway- but do they really ever disappoint?

2. Ralph Lauren: Oh how I do love this brand. Whenever I think of Ralph Lauren (besides thinking of Friends) I think of a classic look. Lauren's A/W 15 features a fab western feel with a great 70s vibe. Faux fur and suede pants lined the runway and made it feel like a Clint Eastwood movie. However, business suits made its way into the show as well. Old school pin stripes matched with shawls were unexpected but fabulous. Ralph Lauren also featured some minimalistic monotoned outfits with bone jewelry and fringe to keep the outfit interesting.

3. Alice + Olivia: Holy Glam, Batman! This is the epitome of a groovy 70s glam look. Stacey Bendet is one of my favorite designers as she never looks boring! Her collection literally had me in awe. I mean, look at that cobalt blue! The flower power laced with baroque patterns made this collection playful and FUN. Which is what fashion is all about! Once again, an office vibe makes it way into this collection. The pant suits, and pinstripe mini skirts are perfect for that "hot businesswoman" look.

4. See by Chloè: Chloè's collection is the most "lovechild" out of all that I have seen. This A/W show featured looks that would have graced 70s glamour queens like Farrah Fawcett and Jane Fonda. With mini dresses that screamed Heather Graham in The Spy Who Shagged Me, to subtle plaid patterns, See by Chloè is the perfect collection for those who had a hippie past life.

While there were a million collections that I could have shared, these are the top ones that I felt a connection to. However, I do have a short list of designers that I thought I would mention.

Short List:
1. Sally LaPointe
2. Tibi
3. Tommy Hilfiger
4. Alexander Wang
5. Marc Jacobs

Tibi would have been my #5 top favorite, however I felt it shared the same base styles of The Row and did not want to review two very similar shows. However, if you LOVED MKO and AO's designs, I recommend you checking out Tibi.

What were some of your favorite NYFW shows? Fav looks? Designers? How do you plan to rock these 70s vibes?

Until next time,

Emily
