I get asked a lot if the only pieces I wear are girly, minimalistic, or Olsen-inspired. Today I thought I'd answer that with an outfit. On grey days, I love to change it up and put on a "grunge" inspired outfit. That doesn't always mean bedhead and torn to hell boots. Grunge, in my opinion, can be just as aesthetically pleasing as a sundress and heels. I personally believe that grunge is open for interpretation, so I thought I'd show you how I rock it.
Personally, when I think grunge, I think acid wash and layers. These jeans from American Apparel are not only high waisted goodness, but super comfortable! I haven't seen a body type they don't flatter.
Flannel is an essential, in my book. This flannel is actually a men's shirt from American Eagle. Cheap, cosy, and oversized? Score.
When it comes to the base tshirt, you could go for a staple crew neck, or a statement shirt. This "More Issues Than Vogue" tank is from BMLA and let me just say, I love the simplistic vibes of their line. Most of their graphics feature short phrases on a plain tee and it really draws the eye.
Leather is always a great layering piece if you want to give an outfit an edge. This is actually a pleather jacket from Mossimo that I've had for years. Personally, I would say go for a quality leather or faux leather jacket. This jacket is great, however hasn't aged as well I hoped. The price you pay for cheaper jackets I guess!
Layering rings has always been a fun past time of mine. I feel like Phoebe Buffay every time I'm wearing more than two rings! haha. These rings have been collected over the years. One of the graduation rings is mine, the other my mother's. The black pearl ring and simple band are my grandmother's original engagement and wedding ring. The claddagh is borrowed from my mother since mine is gold. (I can't do mixed metals as hard as I try!)
Lastly, the booties. These are the Veronica Back Zip Shorties from Frye. And man, I cannot tell you enough how great these boots are. Sturdy and cute is hard to find, but Frye makes it happen. Yes, the are a pretty penny, but they will last a lifetime!
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
