"And the rain, rain, rain fell down, down, down."
For my 21st, my lovely parents bought me a pair of Hunter Boots. I. am. in. love.
They are seriously so versatile. They bought them for when I go tromp in the dirt at the stables. However what they didn't know is I can pair them with a cute skirt, some skinnies, or leggings and call it an outfit!
Now, these boots are the "Original Short" in "Dark Olive." I'm quite petite at 5'3" (5'4" on a good day) and did not want the boots to drown me. (Hehe, rain boot puns) In fact, I tried my sister's tall boots on and they went up to my knees and were quite uncomfortable. These shorties were the PERFECT alternative.
In honor of these amazing green masterpieces, here are 3 ways to style any type of wellies!
Look One: Would you wear them with a skirt?
Surprisingly enough, hunter boots and skirts go together like white on rice. This vintage plaid mini and cashmere sweater is the perfect base. When starting any outfit with hunter boots make sure you have a good color scheme. The olive boots and dark blues and reds of the skirt flow beautifully.
To really tie in the boots, I always opt for some sort of long sock, leggings or tights. I personally dislike how the boots look without anything peeking out from underneath them. Since it is flipping cold out, I paired black tights and grey tall socks together. Make sure to scrunch the socks at the top (if they are way taller than the boots)! Otherwise it might look a bit silly!
Look Two: Would you wear them with a vest?
I know what you might be thinking, a dressy shirt and rain boots? Trust me! It looks fabulous. This shirt, from Nordstrom, is oversized and creates more of a casual look. The vest adds a menswear vibe (which I always dig!) and if you don't like that feel, throw on a cute scarf or ascot- like this Hermes one here!
Now, socks wise. Stick to a BASIC color. White, grey, or any other color that is prominent in your outfit. The simplisty of the top makes flamboyant socks look out of place. However, if you opted for a bright scarf, try socks in that color! It would tie in brilliantly.
Look Three: Would you wear them with a hat?
The last outfit I styled is cosy to the max. This oversized oxford and legging combo is a perfect running errands outfit. What I love about this look is all the earthy tones. I'm a sucker for them. With these tones as your base you can choose to throw on something that is a bit brighter to amp up the look! This scarf is actually reversible. The other side being a brilliant robin's egg blue!
The Panama hat adds a boho vibe that completes the look!
How do you guys style rain boots? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
